Big Woods Wilderness Outfitters is Russ and Pat Popp, a husband and wife licensed guiding and hunting team, dedicated to sharing the deer-hunting experience in a wilderness setting.  We eat, breathe, and sleep deer-hunting in the Big Woods.  We were married on a cliff overlooking two lakes where our camp is located.

We are committed to ensuring you an unforgettable and enjoyable hunting trip, by providing valuable knowledge and experience in our area, as well as honest, incomparable customer service.  Women and youth hunters are just as welcomed as men in our hunting camp, and we make every client's enjoyment and satisfaction our top priority.
 
Russ was introduced by his father to hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and looking for historical artifacts in our area in 1966.  He was six years old at the time and hasn't stopped since.  While Russ considers himself a traditional bowhunter first, he also loves to hunt with his muzzleloader and rifle to keep and develop his skills.  Deer scouting in the Big Woods is a passion for Russ that lasts all year long.
 
Pat has been hunting and fishing for 25 years, but it wasn't until she met Russ in 1999 that he taught her traditional bowhunting.  While she prefers to use her recurve bow, she has also developed a liking for her trusty little 45-Colt Winchester rifle, mostly because she still must get the deer in close to get a good shot.  Her committment to, and love of, the Big Woods instills a keen desire to share this area with those who truly appreciate the Big Woods experience.

We have a solid base of knowledge about our area and its wildlife, but are also committed to learning and experiencing more. We are eager to share our knowledge, experience and enthusiasm and would love to share it with you!
