BLACK BEAR HUNTING
Big Woods Wilderness Outfitters is thrilled to offer spring and fall trophy black bear hunts in Manitoba, Canada, the premier hunting spot for trophy black bear in all of North America.
We have recently acquired the exclusive black bear outfitter rights for the best section of Manitoba, approximately 700 square miles, from a retired outfitter, who had consistently produced impressive black bear trophies during decades of operation in this area.
Your Big Woods outfitter has been hunting this area since 1966, and has waited many years to obtain the privilege of the exclusive rights to one of the best black bear hunting areas in Manitoba.
Our hunting area offers all color phases of black bears. We are located in and around Nopiming Provincial Park, which is along the Ontario border, where the spring bear hunt has been banned for several years, offering a surplus of black bears coming into our bear bait sites.
Please see our Location page for more information and directions.
All black bear hunts are over active bait sites with tree stands set up for the appropriate firearm (bow, muzzleloader, or rifle), with most baits about 10 yards from the stand. Bear hunting from ground blinds is also an option, upon request. Bear bait sites are accessed by ATV, 4X4 truck, boat, or canoe to make your trophy black bear hunt a success.
You will be bear hunting established baited sites, as well as hunting where no one has hunted before. Our area has many lakes (700 in Nopiming Provincial Park alone), rivers, and creeks in Canadian Shield country, offering excellent black bear habitat and opportunities.
Please see Our Environment pages for a glimpse into the spectacular wildlife habitat in our area.
Black bear hunts are 5 days, Monday to Friday, and include a free timber wolf hunt during the fall season only. During the fall black bear season, we also offer combo hunts including timber wolf, whitetail deer, waterfowl and upland game birds. Our area also offers excellent fishing opportunities, including walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass .
